Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"A friend and I stopped in on a fall Sat afternoon as first timers on our way through from Edwardsburg to Kalamazoo. We both got the pizza and we both really liked it! We loved the dive bar vibe, the food, the drinks AND the service! We will definitely be back!"
"The waiter was great, lots of ice in drinks. James M. Was great, great service, super kind. Beer was fresh. The outdoor seating is great; lots of bugs, though. Food was great, burger was great, well cooked and delicious. Must Have if you’re visiting. Pizza hard to cut, though."
"Appetizer was great! We had cheese curds. We ordered a pizza. The sausage really had not taste but it wasn't a bad pizza. The service was very prompt but a little pushy. The atmosphere needs an update. I did like that the saloon supports local schools and organizations by allowing them to have fundraiser nights! Keep an eye out for those dates!"
"Excellent food. Great service. You definitely get your money's worth!"
"I ordered a bowl of chili and a beef sandwich and I was shocked at how much food came out. The chili was very tasty and I enjoyed the way the beef sandwich was served. The Wounded Minnow is a nice, local place to relax and enjoy some good food."
"We had to deliver a friend to the Dowagiac Amtrak station at about dinner time, so we chose the Wounded Minnow for its proximity to the station. The decision was one of convenience, so we had no preconceived notions about what to expect. Oh, were we surprised. The service, menu and food all exceeded expectations. The ambience is unexceptional, but that seems to support the charm of the joint. The only meaningful ding is that the high-top booth seat was really uncomfortable. Our server, James, was knowledgeable, fast, efficient and found just the right balance between attentiveness and respect for privacy. He had recommendations when asked and proved to be an exceptional guide. The beer selection on tap had too many IPA's for my taste, but the bottle selection more than made up for it. I found one of my favorites (Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald) and my companions were very happy with the mixology. We were expecting bar food, and ended up ordering just that - Nachos and Pizza. The menu had a peach pork chop that I wanted to order, but didn't have the appetite. We referred a friend to the Wounded Minnow later in the week and he split the pork chop with his dining partner - raving about the selection. That will be my choice when we return - soon, I'm sure."
"My unit from work came here for our Christmas party. They have a nice banquet room in the back of the restaurant. I have been coming here off and on for a couple decades. They used to have a really good Italian beef an a nice Italian bread toped with giardina. They ruined it by putting it on some panini style bread with marinara on it and giardinara on the side. I included a pic. Server was great, couldn't have been more polite, friendly and helpful. The fried fish is great, the fried mushrooms are terrible, they need to change how they do the breading. The onion rings are excellent. I want to try the pizza. I recommend the wounded minnow."
"The food was good we had pizza and the smods and salad bar the smods are fire I could have ate the whole plate."
